He has over 20 years of experience as an administrative professional in a government setting. He currently supports the Director for mission programs. Throughout his career, he has been an advocate for the profession, educating coworkers about the value of the role, mentoring peers, and becoming active in IAAP. He has been an active member of IAAP since 2008 and has served in a variety of leadership positions, including Chair of the Board of Directors from 2021-2023. He currently serves as a strategic advisor to the IAAP Governance and Leadership Committee (GLC).

Through Leoron, he has facilitated CAP prep courses throughout the Middle East, including Dubai and several locations within Saudi Arabia.

Barrett is a lifelong learner. After college, he went to UCLA to earn a Bachelor of Art in Theater Arts. His dissertation explored the relationship between the perceived emotional intelligence of a leader and employee engagement among administrative professionals.

Barrett is excited to step into the role of MRG Leader. He played a role in developing the DEI strategy for IAAP and is looking forward to the next steps on our DEI journey, creating a space where all are welcomed and valued as we move together toward fostering true belonging for everyone within our community.
